Elements and Principles of Art
MIT has teamed up with Ms. Kaleigh Blackwood to offer a very special art class.
Ms. Blackwood graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and attended the Chicago Art Institute. She went on to become the Art Director of Yu-Tsai school, where she developed this program.
“I wanted to create a program that gives students a solid artistic foundation, so they could advance their skills and understanding as they progress. My approach to creating this curriculum both as an artist, and as an educator.”
Ms. Blackwood will be introducing classes for Picasso (2nd-6th grade) this semester.
Students will learn the basics of art, and how they stand upon what is known as the Elements and Principles of Art. Each art unit is devised to help students take that knowledge, and various skills, to create their own compositions and apply their ideas while being exposed to different kinds of art movements from around the world.
